Under the guise and pretense of “risk-based” pricing, chase puts the screws to its credit card holders by applying all payments under their credit card holder agreements to lower interest balances first.
I too soon found out what this means, as I have a Chase credit card with a regular balance and a cash advance balance. My cash advance balance is about $400.00, and on my statement i noticed they were charging me 20.99% for this balance, compared to 8.99% for my regular what they call “purchase balance”.

So, im home this morning, looking at my bank account : 12 dollars. I say damn, let me transfer some money from savings so i dont get overdrawn. I’m in the wierd period of the month in between paychecks, those first few days after paying the heavy part of my bills. Also i went shopping and bought a bunch of stuff. so I transfer 250.00 dollars from savings through my Ms Money, which will submit the transfer as if directly from the BOA website. These transfers are usually IMMEDIATE, not this time.
I get home at around 6:15pm, not an hour ago, and see no less than 4 , thats right four 35(thirty five) dollar charges to my account all back to back, and im thinking, some merchant accidently ran through 4 charges for the same 35.00 item that i bought, of course, what else could it be? I had just transfered 250.00 dollars into this account a few hours earlier. For the life of me I couldnt remember what i had bought for exactly $35.00? Mysterious,
